Biography

Prof. Dr. Ir. Akhmad Herman Yuwono, M.Phil.Eng. obtained his Bachelor Degree in Metallurgical Engineering from Universitas Indonesia in 1994. He continued his study for master level in 1997 at University of Cambridge-UK through support from Cambridge Overseas Trust-British Embassy Scholarships. His PhD degree was obtained from National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2008 with the focus on the synthesis and characterization of inorganic-organic nanohybrids for photonic application. Prof. Dr. Akhmad Herman Yuwono has developed a modified technique combining wet chemistry sol-gel technique and post-hydrothermal treatment at low temperature in order to obtain highly crystalline inorganic nanoparticles while maintaining the integrity of organic matrix, where such effect could not be obtained through conventional thermal annealing/calcination process. His current research includes the synthesis/fabrication of nanostructure inorganic semiconductor oxides as photocatalysis for organic pollutant degradation as well as for energy applicationssuch as dye sensitized and Perovskite solar cells. As part of his main research interest, this also include the use of Indonesia natural-indigenous minerals (ilmenite, FeOTiO2 and tin oxide, SnO2) and plantation as the potential resources/precursors through green synthesis approaches for the above nanostructural applications. Up to date, Prof. Dr. Akhmad Herman Yuwono has published 140 Documents indexed by Scopus, with 1,055 Citations by 888 documents. His h-index is 13 by Scopus and 16 by Google Scholar. Prof. Dr. Akhmad Herman Yuwono was awarded as a Full-Professor at Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Faculty of Engineering Universitas Indonesia in 2013, and furthermore was assigned as Associate Dean for Research and Community Services at Faculty of Engineering Universitas Indonesia from 2014-2018. Having completed successfully his duty in dean’s office, he continued his service as the Head of Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Faculty of Engineering UI from 2018-2022. Now he is involved in the Interdisciplinary Education and Research Unit at Faculty of Engineering Universitas Indonesia as the Secretary of Unit, starting from January 12th 2022.
